When seeking dental treatment, we know you want the best of the best. A Prosthodontist is just that, a specialist dentist who has completed advanced education and training above and beyond the standard level.

In this blog, we’ll discuss why it’s advantageous to get treated by a Prosthodontist.

What is a Prosthodontist?

A Prosthodontist is a Registered Specialist Dentist who has undergone at least ten years of training. This is above and beyond the normal training and education requirement for a dentist.

Where prosthodontists differ is that they are trained in all aspects of restorative dentistry with a particular emphasis on holistic, overall treatment; planning and long-term care.

Advantages of seeing a Prosthodontist

A Prosthodontist is an expert at providing tooth restorations and restoring the appearance of your smile. Because a prosthodontist has received extra training, you may enjoy some more benefits than you would at a typical dental clinic. A Prosthodontist will provide a more comprehensive approach to your dental care and ensure that any smile seemingly ‘beyond hope’ can be restored.

While a general dentist can make prostheses like dentures and crowns, they may not have the experience to handle overly difficult cases. Additionally, many dentists refer to themselves as ‘cosmetic dentists’ or ‘cosmetic specialists’. These dentists have a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry but haven’t completed any specialisation. You want to feel confident that you are receiving the best possible care from the best of the best. A Prosthodontist is just that because they can make unique prostheses tailored to you and your needs, with the years of education and training to back it up.

Professor Jim Ironside from Ironside Advanced Dental in Sydney has decades of experience cutting crowns, veneers and other prostheses. He is an expert Prosthodontist extremely dedicated to his patients – he will work closely with them until they are happy with the shape, colour and fit. He uses only expert ceramicists to help you achieve a natural, beautiful appearance and the perfect fit and functionality for your mouth.

A smile makeover by a Prosthodontists

Also known as a smile reconstruction—because a smile makeover aims to restore your smile, not give you an artificial smile—a smile makeover is a series of cosmetic and restorative treatments. A smile makeover can include teeth whitening, dental implants, dental crowns and bridges, and porcelain veneers.

A Prosthodontist is the best person to perform this treatment because of their extensive skills, knowledge and experience. As a prosthodontist, Professor Ironside from Ironside Advanced Dental Sydney can tailor a smile makeover to your needs.
