So, how is your smile looking?
Is it a little lacklustre?
Are you missing a few teeth?
When you visit Ironside Advanced Dental in Sydney for your initial consultation, we will discuss what treatments you need and what is the best way to approach your treatment plan.
Will teeth whitening be an effective way to restore your smile? Or will you need veneers? Is a dental bridge adequate for replacing your missing tooth, or would your oral health benefit more from dental implant treatment?
These are the sorts of questions that will inform your smile makeover treatment plan.
What’s the difference between a dental bridge and a dental implant?
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is surgically inserted into your jaw. When the dental implant is inserted into your jaw, the jawbone will fuse to the implant creating a strong sturdy tooth root replacement. Once your jawbone has fused to the dental implant a porcelain crown will be attached to the implant to give you a whole tooth replacement.
A dental bridge is a prosthetic tooth that replaces the crown of a missing tooth. It is attached to the two healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth to restore form and function to your smile. However, while it is an effective treatment it is not as comprehensive as dental implants.
Veneers vs. Teeth Whitening
If your teeth are mildly stained then teeth whitening will most likely be the best treatment option for you. At Ironside Advanced Dental we offer Zoom! Tooth Whitening. This teeth whitening treatment is an effective and relatively fast method of whitening your teeth up to 8 shades. What’s more, it can be done in a single one-hour appointment.
If your teeth are not just stained, but chipped and or cracked, then porcelain veneers would be a more effective treatment option.
Porcelain veneers are thin shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth. They are as thin as a contact lens and are colour-matched to the shade and colour of your natural teeth. Porcelain veneers are strong and stain resistant—if looked after properly they can last up to ten years.
