An all-porcelain crown is not ideal for back (molar) teeth because of the amount of pressure exerted on these teeth. Damaged molar teeth require a metal or gold crown with porcelain—the porcelain is for aesthetics the metal or gold is to provide support and protection for the damaged tooth.
You would not want to place an all-porcelain crown on a dental implant because a dental implant doesn’t have the same spring as a natural tooth.
